27 May 2016 – Rick Seaman’s Motion Picture Driving Clinic (Willow Springs International Raceway, California)
First big course in LA and I got to learn from one of the best in the business, especially when it comes to Stunt Driving and cars – Rick Seamons.
The 3 day course consisted of on the well-known Willow Springs International Raceway skid pad:
- 90 degree turns (Front and rear wheel drive)
- 180 degree turns (Front and rear wheel drive)
- Reverse 180 or J-Turns
- Precision Driving
- Reverse Precision Driving
- Grid Driving
I was most definitely in my element as speed and cars really get me excited!
Not only were the maneuvers fun to learn and perform, the insight Rick supplied is priceless – Set etiquette, car mechanics & safety around cars and on set.
So when day 3 arrived, I passed with certificate in hand and was officially a “Stunt Commando!” as Rick put it. Will definitely be back as soon as I can to get stuck into Level 2 🙂
July 2017 – Killarney Race Track
Spent a Wednesday morning going around Killarney Race Track at high speed in Hard Drive – Stunt/Precision Driving Team’s “Black Betty” – BMW E36 328i.
Session was just short of 4 hours which consisted of 1 hour tuition, 12-15 laps around Killarney and 30-45mins debriefing with specific points on your performance. Allen Irwin did all the teaching and accompanies you in the car while you drive.
Highly recommended and it was great to be back on the track!
Thanks again to Allen Irwin for the amazing lesson as well as Rochelle Irwin – both making this possible…even with ‘Murphy’ hot on their heels
